Cel badania

Metoda

Przeprowadzono badanie przekrojowe w dużej instytucji zdrowotnej w Australii Zachodniej, obejmujące pięć obszarów Australijskiego Ramy Zdrowia Cyfrowego.

Wyniki

W badaniu wzięło udział 760 pielęgniarek, a wyniki wykazały istotne statystycznie różnice w 9 z 15 ocenianych elementów zdolności cyfrowych i pewności siebie, przy czym pielęgniarki w psychiatrii zgłaszały wyższe poziomy niż te w ogólnej opiece zdrowotnej.

Digital health technologies are increasingly central to contemporary healthcare delivery, making nurses' digital capability and confidence essential across clinical settings that differ in workflows, documentation demands, and models of care. This study aimed to assess self-reported digital health capabilities and confidence levels among nurses and to compare them between those working in mental health and general healthcare settings, where digital technology use and clinical contexts may differ. A cross-sectional survey was conducted across a large health service in Western Australia, incorporating five domains of the Australian Digital Health Framework. A total of 760 nurses participated, and respondents were categorized into two clinical groups. Due to non-normal data distributions, group comparisons were analyzed using non-parametric statistical tests. The results identified statistically significant differences in 9 of the 15 digital health capability and confidence items, with nurses working in mental health settings consistently reporting higher levels than those in general healthcare. These differences may reflect variation in exposure to digital systems, targeted training opportunities, or the perceived relevance of digital technologies across practice contexts. The findings highlight important disparities in digital readiness between nursing groups and underscore the need for context-specific workforce development strategies. Strengthening digital health capability across diverse nursing settings will be critical to supporting effective electronic medical record implementation and ensuring safe, efficient, and equitable care in an increasingly digital healthcare environment.
